Additional conversation starters: a YouTube video of a “Privilege Walk” exercise, called “What is Privilege?” This is the same experiment, but done in Singapore, a country with a very different ethnic/racial makeup than the US. This is the “White Privilege Checklist,” taken from a famous 1989 scholarly article. How many of these statements fit my life experience? A helpful article about White Privilege; and this White Privilege Handout. Also: Uncomfortable Conversations with a Black Man - this whole series is a great conversation starter; Wikipedia article on the Mark of Cain is mentioned in the sermon on Sept. 20; and PC(USA)'s Racial Justice Resources. And: - The go-to website for fact checking. This website is a simple, formidable weapon against rumors and false claims. This article from the American Psychological Association is a great discussion starter. It discusses how to confront those awkward moments when someone says something hurtful.
