Music at Oakland

Concert Series

We are the body of Christ. With hands, voices, and God's gift of music we reach out to bring truth, beauty, and goodness to all.

Music at Oakland is a community outreach of several concerts each year. The series includes church, local, regional, and national performers from various idioms. All concerts are free to the community. A freewill offering will be accepted towards future events.

The South Carolina Governor’s School For the Arts and Humanities, Greenville, SC

The Governor’s School For the Arts and Humanities in Greenville, SC, is state supported public school giving artistically talented high school students from across the state the opportunity to concentrate on their skills in a supportive environ-ment of artistic and academic excellence Students apply and audition for the school to concentrate in one of five art areas: Creative Writing, Dance, Dra-ma, Music or Visual Arts.

There will be an art show and concert including: vocalists, piano duo, a string trio, a woodwind ensemble, a violin soloist, and tuba soloist.

Winthrop Chorale and Chamber Singers

Under the Direction of Dr. Katherine Kinsey

The Winthrop University Chorale, a 55-voice en-semble, is the principal touring choir among the en-sembles in the Dept. of Music. It is comprised of au-ditioned undergraduates and graduate students, more than half of which are music majors or minors.

The Winthrop Chamber Singers is a small, highly select ensemble of 18-25 singers specializing in the performance of a cappella and chamber choral music from the Renaissance to the present day.

Tour ‘homecoming’ Concert

Celebrate the Vision

The Agape Choir is the 6-12 grade youth choir of Oakland Ave. Presbyterian Church. The choir will be returning from a six day mission and outreach tour to Virginia and Washington D.C. where they will be of-fering programs in churches and other venues.

Celebrate the Vision is a musical drama which draws upon the themes of celebration, and a call to grow and serve in faith through the lessons and para-bles of Jesus. The joyful and energetic musical con-tains the message of universal commitment in faith as the key to a world that is filled with caring people.
